Gloria Jean Scheurer

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. Gloria Jean Scheurer, 90, of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, on Sept. 12, 1926 she was the daughter of Paul and Ethel (Kaufman) Bowden.

In 1946 she married Andrew Scheurer who preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 2000 after 54 years of marriage.

She was a homemaker and along with her husband, they raised five children. A wonderful, caring and loving individual, she always had a smile for everyone she met.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Daniel and Rhonda Scheurer, Michael and Patty Scheurer, both of Mansfield, and Andrew and Peggy Scheurer, of New Port Richey, Florida; her daughter and her spouse, Dianne and Michael Stancato, of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; her special cousins, Loretta Stimens and Gail Pearce, both of North Carolina; Pat Barnes, of Mansfield, and Jeannie Wise, of Bellville.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Williams in July 2016; two brothers; and a sister.

The family would like to thank OhioHealth Hospice and special thanks to Willa Walters for their care of Gloria.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield conducted by Pastor Matthew Pond. Burial will follow in Caesarea Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice.
