Marilyn Jean Tilus, 81, of Mansfield, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 10, 2017, at Shelby Pointe.

She was born April 30, 1935, in Shelby, Ohio, to the late Clifford Johns and Dorothy G. (Hartz) Johns.

Marilyn was very crafty and especially enjoyed making personalized sweatshirts and sewing. She found great pleasure in honing her culinary skills and had a green thumb when it came to growing beautiful flowers. Marilyn had a soft spot for dogs, but liked the boxer breed best.

She is survived by her loving husband, Carl Tilus; two daughters, Nancy (Tim) Ney, of Mansfield, and Terri Prescott, of Columbia, Pennsylvania; three step daughters, Diane Tilus, of Columbus, Ohio, Karlen (Ken) Burton, of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Nikki (Jim) Brown, of Columbus; numerous grandchildren and step grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Hoyda, of Shelby.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert Johns.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Donald Kuntz of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
