Betty Dillon Fruehstorfer, 86 of Mansfield passed away Jan. 20, 2017 at Crestwood Care Center from complications due to Alzheimer’s. She was surrounded by her family.
Betty was born March 28, 1930 in West Louisville, Kentucky, to Lawrence and Minnie Long. She graduated from Mt. Saint Joseph Academy and then worked at General Electric.
Betty moved to Mansfield after marrying Raymond E. Dillon July 5, 1952. When their youngest child started school she went to work at Appleseed Junior High School’s cafeteria. Ray died in 1982 and Betty then went to work at Mansfield General Hospital in food service.
After retiring in 2006 she married William Fruehstorfer. Although Betty truly enjoyed many activities, she had a special love for traveling and birthday celebrations with her family.
Survivors include her children Angela Dillon, Annette Ferrell, Elaine (Tom) Frisk, Julie (Mark) Mills, Kevin (Lisa Rush) Dillon, all of Mansfield; step-daughters Rita Allen, Laura (Jerry) Shaum, Linda (Bob) Kline; grandchildren: Lindy (Scott) Hammer, Doug Ferrell, Jason Frisk, Matt Ferrell, Chelsey Mills, Alyssa Mills, Jenny Kline, Joe Kline, Jeremy, Nathan and Jennifer Shaum; great-grandchildren Kennedy Jackson, Aiden, Isaac, Claire, Laney and Jaxon Hammer, Gryphon Frisk; sister-in-law Mary Kleshinski; good friend Delores Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Raymond E. Dillon; second husband William Fruehstorfer; sister Millie Aukerman; nephew Larry Aukerman.
Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Msgr. Edward C. Dunn Foundation for Education.
