Esther I. Taylor, 85, of Crestline, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 at Galion Community Hospital after a sudden illness, surrounded by her loved ones.

Esther was born in Crestline, on Oct. 19, 1931 to the late Lloyd O. and Louise A. (Epley) Solinger. She married Harold J. “Rusty” Taylor on Nov. 20, 1949 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2008. 

Esther lived in the Crawford County area her entire life. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline. Esther was employed at Theiss Pharmacy in Crestline for 28 years, retiring in the early 1990’s. She enjoyed camping and belonged to a camping club.

She loved her entire family and was a very good mom. Esther was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy and Gary Black, of Crestline, her special granddaughter, Cheyenne Taylor, of Crestline, her grandchildren, Todd Black, of Crestline, Patty and Mike Booker, of Galion, Bruce and Leesa Taylor Jr., of Galion, nine great-grandchildren; Brieann Johns, Haylee Black, Marissa Black, Carolina Taylor, Maisie Taylor, Daniel Booker, Desiree Taylor, Gabriel Darwhipple and Aaron Booker, her two great-great grandchildren, Aleah Rice and Lyllean Grace Booker, and her sister Inez and Larry Glauer, of Kingsport, Tennessee.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Taylor Sr., her granddaughter, Rusty Ann Taylor, her grandson, Scott Black, and her two sisters, Louise Joan Solinger Eichelberger and Carol Jean Solinger Hatfield.

Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Crestline with Pastor Bonnie Peltomaa officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
