Clara M. Nolan

Clara M. Nolan, 88, of Shelby, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 in OhioHealth Shelby Hospital.

Born Aug. 24, 1928 in Willard, Ohio to Anthony Wilhelm and Lena (Daniel) Stockmaster she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life.

A graduate of New Washington High School, she was a beautician and owner-operator of Clara’s Beauty Shop for many years. She had been a former employee of the Ohio Steel Tube Co. and Shelby Spring Hinge.

A member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, she enjoyed riding motorcycles, square dancing and cooking.

Survivors include her son, Robert P. (Edna) Alfrey Jr., of Shelby; six grandchildren, Robert P. (Tabitha) Alfrey III, of Shelby, Deborah (William ) Homrich, of Helena, Alabama., Jeff (Amber) Alfrey, of Shelby, Amanda Bruner and Eric Blackstone, of Springtown, Texas, Cassandra (Shawn) Bernowski, of Pataskala, Ohio, and Ethan Bruner, of Shelby; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grand daughter two sisters, Pauline (Ben) Kehres, of North Auburn and Bert (Kurt) Mason, of New Washington; two sisters-in-law, Cecilia Stockmaster and Betty Stockmaster, both of New Washington; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Ellen Bruner; her step-father, Henry Stockmaster, two brothers Jerome and Harold Stockmaster.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday Jan. 24, 2017 from the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment in Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
