MANSFIELD — The inaugural Metal for Miracles concert will take place on Dec. 10 at Belcher’s House of Rock at 8 p.m.
“It’s going to be our first annual toy drive,” said Adam Matthews, the creator of the event. “I wanted to get this going, kind of like a fail safe for the community.”
Matthews, a metal musician himself, will join his band, Krymzon as the opening act for the gig. Other bands performing are Bonesaw, First To Resist, The Provoked.
According to the event flier, 100 percent of gifts and monetary donations will go to Toy Time on Diamond Street. A donation of $5 or a toy is required for entry.
“They are all great metal bands,” Matthews said. “There are not a lot of local metal bands, and it took me a while to find them.”
Matthews said he has noticed a lot of children in need of toys after the rise of heroin in Mansfield.
“I think it’s important for the community to rally together this year because of the (overdose) deaths. If you think about it that’s leaving a lot of children with out parents. How is that fair for everybody else to get Christmas and they are looking from the outside in.”
Matthews said believes his event will help music fans have fun and help children in need.
“It’s going to be a fun event, a great cause. Belcher’s hasn’t done a Christmas event in a while. It’s going to be a great time.”
