MANSFIELD — For the seventh consecutive year, 75 local families in need will receive Thanksgiving dinner boxes, thanks to the generosity and hard work of several groups.
The Feast of Love is a community service project of Mansfield Senior High students and staff, North Central State College and the 179th Airlift Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard.
Families of Senior High and Mansfield Middle School students and employees were nominated by staff members to receive the dinner boxes based on need.
Each family will receive a 10- to 12-pound turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, canned corn and green beans, cranberry sauce, corn muffin mix and cake mix with icing.
The Mansfield School Employees Association donated 80 turkeys at a cost of $1,700. North Central State College and the 179th Airlift Wing donated hundreds of food items and boxes.
Other donations included:
Senior High Key Club – Corn muffin mixes
Senior High OCC Leadership – Assorted food items
Senior High culinary arts students – Cranberry sauce
Mansfield Tyger Booster Club – Food items and money to purchase other items
Culinary arts students will pack the 75 boxes on Monday. Senior High staff and OCC Leadership members will deliver them on Tuesday.
