In this position, Nate completed his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Purdue University.

Today, Nate is an Assistant Professor in the School of Educational Leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University and the Principal License Program Manager. Cultivated by his parents, Walt and Lin Lowe, Nate has a passion for missions and has involved himself on work teams to Zimbabwe, Kenya, Hungary, and McAllen, Texas with World Gospel Mission – for whom Nate is also a board member.

Mrs. J. Kaye Hahn

For over 30 years, Mrs. Kaye Hahn served the families at Mansfield Christian School as both a teacher and a leader. She began her work at MCS in 1977 as a teacher’s aide and then was hired to teach second grade in the fall of 1981. Respect for her professionalism and leadership grew quickly, and in 1989, she became the first female administrator at MCS, serving as the Elementary Principal for grades K-6.

For the next 19 years, Kaye would lead the elementary school through times of remarkable growth and transition. Kaye’s family has been involved with MCS since its inception as her younger brother was an MCS student in the early 1960s. She and her husband, Tom, always knew that a Christ-centered education was what they wanted for their sons and Mansfield Christian was that clear choice.

Mark Hahn graduated from MCS in 1989 and Matt Hahn graduated in 1992 and are serving the Lord in Virginia and Indiana respectively. Kaye graduated from The Ohio State University in 1981 and today, is back at OSU-Mansfield preparing young teachers for a career in education.

Since her retirement from MCS in 2008, Kaye has been the Homeless Student Coordinator for Mansfield City Schools, Vice Chair of the Mansfield Homeless Coalition, a board member for Community Action for Capable Youth (CACY), and a grant-writer/facilitator for an after-school program. At present, she remains active at Mansfield Alliance Church, and also serves on the board at Family Life Counseling, the Child Evangelism Board, and the Harmony House Board.

Paula Smith

Mrs. Paula J. Smith

In 1982, Mrs. Paula Smith became the first female history teacher hired for secondary grades at Mansfield Christian School. For the next 26 years, she faithfully and diligently taught God’s truth to the students at MCS. From 1982 – 2006 she instructed her 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students in World History, Ohio History, American History, and World Geography.

She also helped to establish and grow the cheer program by serving as a cheerleading advisor for the junior high, freshmen, JV, and Varsity squads during her time at MCS. After graduating from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, with a Bachelor’s in Health, Physical Education, and Social Studies in 1964, Paula taught three years in public schools before her family settled in Mansfield.

She and her husband, Don, determined very early that their sons would attend MCS and they would be committed to Christian education as a family. That commitment never wavered as Paula was highly regarded for her character, biblical worldview integration, and sincere desire to be faithful to the calling of teaching.

Since her retirement, Paula has volunteered alongside Don for project work at MCS, while also serving on the Board of Directors at the Harmony House, volunteering for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Richland County Fair Board, and serving as a Park Steward for the Friends of Mansfield Parks.

Don and Paula Smith, have two sons that are both MCS graduates: Dr. Cy Smith (Class of 1987 and present Superintendent of MCS) and Rev. Dr. Paul Smith (Class of 1991 and Senior Pastor at Crosspoint Alliance Church in Idaho).
