Trey Allen Elswick, 17, of rural Knox County, was taken from us on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016.
Never did a star shine brighter than with our Trey. We are comforted in knowing he no longer suffers. Trey was born June 11, 1999 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and was a junior at Loudonville High School. He was a member of the ROTC in West Virginia, the Ohio Motorpool, and Zion Lutheran Church, Loudonville. Trey was known by many, and loved by all.
Trey was the embodiment of youth – he filled our lives with laughter, music, and his warm gentle smile. He loved the outdoors, 4-wheeling, dirt bikes, military reenactments, skateboarding, drawing and artwork, military history, camping with friends and his cousins, his guitar he was mastering, his music that defined so much of him, and mostly time spent with family and friends.
He was kind and gentle and we cherish the brief 17 years we shared with him.
To know Trey was to know kindness and empathy. He never complained or spoke badly of anyone. Always there to help or volunteer, his heart was full of love and his smile was genuine and he chose laughter over anger.
Trey is survived by his parents, Melissa Conrad-Elswick, of Knox County, and Tracy (Ruth Lanier) Elswick, of Fayetteville, West Virginia; brother and best friend, Ian Elswick, of Knox County; step-brother, Robert (Makayla) Lanier; maternal grandparents, William and Beverly Conrad, of Knox County; paternal grandmother, Madeline Elswick, of Mt. Hope, West Virginia; cousins, Bill and Collin Ruth, Chris and Matt Underwood, Landon Sandrovich, Nick Underwood and Dakota Lanier; aunts, Lisa (Ernie) Conrad-Underwood, Gretchen Conrad; uncle, Erich Conrad; as well as his closest friends, Trevor Johnson, Laine Heffelfinger and Brooklyn Williams; all of whom he loved deeply.
Rest gently in the arms of God our dear sweet Trey. You are missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of Trey’s life will be announced at a later date. The Lindsey, Loudonville, is assisting the Elswick family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left for Trey’s family by visiting www.Byerly-Lindsey.com.
