Ruth A. Amick, 80, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, following a lengthy illness.

Ruth was born on Feb. 29, 1936, in Camden, New Jersey, to Harry K. Jamison and Anna M. (Murphy) Jamison Snyder. She retired from General Motors after 14 years. Ruth loved her family, and she loved her animals.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph “Gene” Amick; three children, Wendy Kleer, of Mansfield, Robert (Karen) Kleer, of Michigan, and Randy Kleer, of South Carolina; five step-children, Susan (Carney) Mangrum, of Iberia, Linda (Doug) Algire, of York, South Carolina, Cindy (Steve) Shasky, of Mansfield, Cathy (Charlie) Lilly, of Albemarle, North Carolina, and Jason Amick, of Mansfield; one granddaughter, Sarah Kleer; 16 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, James Brown; four brothers, Ralph (Carol) Jamison, of Missouri, Tad (Janie) Thorton, John (Sharon) Ellis, and Michael (Joy) Snyder, all of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her feline son, Butter; and canine grandchildren, Ellie, Marshall and Tucker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marie Y. Brown; and twin sister, Betty (Ernie) Craze.

Ruth’s family would like to thank Donna and Martin Larson for all of their help and friendship along with the staff at MedCentral Nurses, Galion Pointe Nursing Home, and the nurses and aides at Home Care Matters.

A private memorial service celebrating Ruth’s life, will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at her nephew, Ernie Craze’s home.
