Michael A. Wheaton, 58, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, following a brief illness.

Michael was born on June 25, 1958, in Mansfield, to James B. and Joyce A. (Mitchell) Wheaton. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He graduated with an Associates Degree in Engineering from North Central Technical College.

Michael was employed for over 20 years at Bay World Manufacturing as a computer programmer. He had a love for RC Airplanes and enjoyed attending the HamFest. Michael was an avid shopper, and loved to go shopping for other people. He enjoyed going to flea markets and Swapper’s Day. He was also an avid euchre player. He was also a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Whenever family or friends have computer problems, Michael was there to fix the problem.

Along with his parents, James and Joyce Wheaton, of Mansfield, he is survived by his wife, Janet (Lozier) Wheaton; three step-children, Josh (Brandi) Carmichael, of West Virginia, Rick O’Neil and Arminta (Roderick) Weatherford, both of Mansfield; eight step-grandchildren, Alexis, Bradley, Adam, Tyler, Jessica, Andrew, Jace, and Mila; two sisters, Linda Cole of Mansfield, and Debbie (Tom) Glenn, of Loudonville; and mother-in-law, Betty Lozier.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Ave. East. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Robert J. Kurtz officiating.
