MANSFIELD — The Buckeye Teen Harvest Rally is shaping up to be an action-packed event, with more than 60 activities planned.
This outdoor event takes place Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 998 Beal Rd. in Mansfield. It’s hosted by Mansfield Baptist Temple.
Teens will have the chance to take part in various games (flag football, rock climbing wall, ping pong, human foosball, soccer, volleyball, dodge ball, paintball, etc.) and hear from Christian pastors.
“We try to jam so much into one day,” said Paul Baird, Mansfield Baptist Temple’s youth pastor. “There’s a little bit of something for everybody.”
Creating a fun atmosphere for teens isn’t the only objective of the Buckeye Teen Harvest Rally.
“We want to make a positive impact on the teens,” Baird said.
According to the event website, there will be three preaching sessions weaved into the event, one of which will be a “strong salvation message.”
Keynote speakers include Pastor Kurt Skelly and Pastor Al Stone.
The Wilds Camp Ministry will emcee the event and do special music and skits.
New this year is the Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course. The male and female with the fastest time wins $250.
Several of the challenges present awards and trophies to the winners.
Many Christian colleges and camps will give away prizes and share information about their ministries, as well.
The cost is $20 per person (lunch is included in the price). Seventh through 12th graders are invited to attend. Youth groups and individuals can register for the event by visiting the website or calling 419-589-5413 ext. 108.
Expected attendance is around 1,000 people, according to Baird. “We have groups that come from all the surrounding states, but mainly Ohio,” he said.
There will be plenty of refreshments available for purchase.
“It’s fun day,” Baird said. “A day that you won’t forget.”
