John Slyva Lopes III

John Slyva Lopes III, 58, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at OhioHealth Mansfield.

He was born April 10, 1958 to John Slyva Lopes II and Mary Lopes.

John loved being outdoors and was often found camping. He also enjoyed cooking and dancing. One of his favorite pastimes was riding in the car to sight see the countryside, stopping at every pizza joint on the way. Since 2001 John faithfully volunteered for the Salvation Army. He also owned his own business of exotic oils, lotions, and incense.

Known by many as “Papa Bear,” John was a jolly, jovial person. He had an exceptionally loving heart for all of God’s creatures, especially his cat Mr. B.J.

John is survived by five sisters, Beth (Victor) Lewis, Donna Parnell, Victoria Lopes, Cindy Lopes, and Daretta “Boo” Lopes; nieces and nephews, Victor, Courtney, and Qwon Lewis, Daniel Parnell, Rachael, Audrey, and Stephen Parnell, Brandi and D’Angelo Cummings, Joshua Scott, and Sydney Lopes.

John is preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no services held at this time. The Wappner Cremation Center is privileged to serve the family.
