MANSFIELD — A drug sweep in Mansfield proved to be bountiful for local and federal detectives Wednesday.

Mansfield Police Department and METRICH, along with the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, seized nearly $8,000 in drugs and paraphernalia Wednesday during a drug sweep.

As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, the sweep also took 29 of 48 targeted suspects off the street.

“We served warrants to 29 people today and we’re still counting,” Lieutenant Joseph Petrycki said around 4 p.m.

The investigators are still searching for at-large suspects, he said. Drug trafficking charges amounted to 89 total counts.

The sweep is part of a four-month long investigation involving numerous individuals who are in possession of heroin, marijuana growing supplies, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia and weapons.

Authorities seized 10 grams of heroin, assorted drug paraphernalia, numerous prescription medications, indoor marijuana growing equipment, two handguns, ammunition and $1,500 in U.S. currency.

“This sweep was the result of numerous complaints regarding drug trafficking in Richland County and we will continue to target other drug dealers within our community,” Sergeant Steve Blust said in a press release.

On top of the 29 arrests, detectives filed additional charges against Mark Thomas, Lisa Schlupp and Glen Brown.

The drug sweep is ongoing, stay tuned for updates.
