Richard Paul Burggraf Sr., 81, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away after a short illness, on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at OhioHealth Hospice. He was born to Rudolph and Lucille (Wills) Burggraf on May 6, 1935.
Dick loved spending time with his family and thoroughly enjoyed the trips they would take to Myrtle Beach. Family was everything to him. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, VFW #9943, Sons of Herman, and Sheet Metal Retirees. Dick was the hardest working man you would ever meet, with 52 years in the Sheet Metal Workers Local 33.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his special four-legged friend, Max.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Karen (Glenn) Wendling Maglott, of Mansfield; his son, Michael (Sonya) Burggraf, of Mansfield; daughter-in-law, Lisa Burggraf; nine grandchildren, Christine (Gary) Sturgell, of South Carolina, Tracy (Dave) Myers, of Mansfield, Tim (Shuree) Eldridge, of Mansfield, Mike (Stacy) Burggraf, of South Carolina, Kristen (Logan) Mullet, of Westerville, Kelsey Burggraf, of Mansfield, Karla Burggraf, of Mansfield, Ashley (Chris) Todd, of Mansfield, and Jonathan (Denise) Adams, of Michigan; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Cameron, Paige, Mady, Ashlea, Peyten, Isaac, Emma, Aria, Caleb, Fletcher; and a special friend, Judy O’Hail.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Elizabeth Burggraf; his parents; his son, Richard Burggraf Jr.; and two brothers and two sisters; and two sons- in- law, Eldon Eldridge and John Wendling.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. A funeral service, officiated by Rector Emeritus David S. Sipes, will be held on Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church.
Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or OhioHealth Hospice.
