Retired Senior Master Sargent (SMSGT) Michael L. Ricker, 67 of Galion passed away Thursday morning, July 14, 2016 at Crystal Care Center in Ashland after a short illness.
He was born March 4, 1949 in Galion and was the son of the late Chester and Betty (Kester) Ricker. He is survived by his wife of 16 years Lynda (Kegley) Ricker who he married on August 22, 1999
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he retired after 21 years and previously worked for the City of Galion as superintendent of the Water Department. He was a member of, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 630, AMVETS Polk Township Post 1979, V.F.W. Post 4329 where he has served as Past President and Treasurer, B.P.O. Elks Galion Lodge 1191and American Legion Scarbrough Post 243, where he has served as Past Commander and Treasurer, all of Galion. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards and cooking
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Hebert of Starkville, Mississippi; his step-sons, John (Amber) Kegley of Ashland and Samuel J. (Samantha) Bates of Johnsville; two grandchildren, Holden and Graham Michael Hebert; four step-grandchildren, Frost and Breeze Kegley and Liam and Tegan Bates; two sisters, Bonnie Trail of Marion and Chris (Ed) Lawson of Galion and his cats, Smoky and Duffy.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, with Rev. Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
Memorial contributions may be made to Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation in care of the funeral home.
