MANSFIELD – The Malabar High School class of 1986 will complete a service project on Saturday, July 30 at North Lake Park in honor of their 30 year class reunion. The event is being organized as a way for classmates to give back to the community that supported Malabar High School and its students from 1963 through 1989.

In cooperation with the North End Community Improvement Collaborative and Friends of Mansfield Parks, members of the class and their families will gather at the North Lake Park pavilion on Westbrook Avenue at 9:30 a.m. to participate in a stream cleanup and garden bed beautification.

Refreshments are being sponsored by classmate John Siegenthaler’s Lind Media Company, and will include plenty of coffee and baked goods from Black Bird Bakery. Tools and supplies will be supplied by another philanthropic classmate, Brian Vitcusky who owns and operates Nature’s Keeper landscaping company in Wooster. Downtown Mansfield, Inc. will also provide supplies. The Manager of Parks and Recreation, Mark Abrams, will be at the event to acknowledge the group for their interest in enriching the Mansfield community.

Other events taking place in conjunction with the Malabar High School Class of 1986 reunion include an informal gathering at Final Friday at The Phoenix Brewing Co. on Friday evening and a buffet dinner at Cafe On Main beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Reunion organizers are looking for classmates with whom they have lost touch. If community members know of anyone who may have graduated with the class of 1986 at Malabar and may not be aware of the events, they are asked to please contact Jen Mabee Traxler at 419-722-5245 or refer them to MHS Class of 86 on Facebook.
