MANSFIELD — Christmas is coming early!
The Phoenix Brewery and All About the Paw Pet Rescue center are partnering to throw a party in the brickyard on the evening of Saturday, July 16.
“We wanted to model the celebration after the Final Friday events,” executive director of All About the Paw Katie Medwid said.
The rescue center is the largest dog rescue center in the area, and Medwid said the dogs they house are often on their final limb, old and unwanted. All About the Paw does its best to treat the dog and help it find a good home.
“We only take donations,” Medwid said. “It is important to have the community come and help us because dog overpopulation can’t be overlooked. It is important people realize overpopulation is a problem.”
The event is free and open to everyone, and drinks sales will be how the rescue will make its money. The executive director said all donations to the center are tax deductible because the center is a 503-C3 non-profit.
Phoenix is contributing to the festivities with ancillary activities leading up to the event. The brewery is releasing two beers before the big show which normally debut as winter beers. The Surly Gnome will be released in-house that Wednesday, and Friday they will bring out Krampus Candy.
“We had been wanting to do something like this for a while, but when Katie contacted us, out of the blue, we were very excited. We are just tickled to be a part of the event, said co-owner Scott Cardwell of Phoenix.
The festivities will include three bands: Mumvies Boy who open the show at 5 p.m., Coal Fired Bicycle who follow at 7 and closing the night down will be Pink Floyd cover band, Any Colour who are set to take the stage at 9.
Medwig said there will be food trucks and a 50/50 drawing. Money from the drawing will go toward the pet rescue center.
