MANSFIELD – The North End Community Improvement Collaborative and the ROAR mentoring program are pleased to offer Mansfield City School students grades 7-12 a summer arts program beginning Monday, July 11 through Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon.

“Beautification Marks,” facilitated by MCS Middle School Art teacher and local artist, Heather Marks, will be creating one or more murals for the NECIC Teaching Garden on Blust Ave. in Mansfield.

“This is a great opportunity for those students who are experienced in mural painting, as well as those who are brand new to the medium,” said NECIC and ROAR Program Coordinator Diane Ottolenghi. “And the Teaching Garden is an excellent place to hold this event!”

“We had a great turnout for mural painting on the pillars on the B & O bike trail beneath the Park Ave. bridge in May and hope to see many of those same students return for this program,” she added, referring to the Mansfield Mural Day held in partnership with ROAR and Mankind Murals.

The five-week program is free, with funding provided through the Community Connectors ROAR program. All materials and supplies are provided and students are encouraged to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated during the outdoor program.

Space is limited and those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve their place by contacting NECIC Community Programs Coordinator Diane Ottolenghi by email at Diane@necic-ohio.org or by phone at 419-525-3101.
