Edith “Edie” M. (Fliger) Henry, 84, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
She was born June 22, 1931, in Loudonville, Ohio, to the late George M. and Mildred A. (Ernst) Fliger, the fourth of 12 children.
Edie married James J. Henry, Sr. on Dec. 12, 1948, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Ashland, where she participated as a member of the United Methodist Women and Sunshine Sisters. Edie formerly worked at Ideal Electric, Peoples Hospital and Dollar General.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Ann (Ed) Erbacher, of Wooster, Ohio, Peggy Jo (Rick) Pfahler, of Mansfield, and Cheryl Diane (Mike) Johnston, of Mansfield; two sons, James J. (Sheila) Henry Jr., of Mansfield and Jon Duane (Shelli) Henry; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Edie is also survived by two sisters, Lucille (LaVerne) Norris and Judith (James) Smith, both of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Henry, Sr. on May 14, 2006; a granddaughter, Heidi Larck; a great-grandson, Justice Larck; seven brothers, George Jr., David, Richard, Robert, Jerry, William and Jacob Fliger; and two sisters, Betty Henry and Patricia Wagaman.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Angel Jackson. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
