MANSFIELD (UPDATED AT 6:30 P.M.) — The suspect who robbed Richland Bank on Cook Road on Friday afternoon is still at large. 

Mansfield Police chief Ken Coontz said the suspect fled north on foot toward James Avenue. Coontz could not confirm the suspect was armed, however, scanner traffic referred to the incident as an “armed robbery.” Mansfield’s Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to retrieve fingerprints and other evidence. 

“An unidentified white male entered the bank and walked up to the teller,” said Mansfield Police Lt. Robert Skropits. “The male gave a note to the teller at which time an undisclosed amount of money was handed over. The male suspect exited the bank and fled northbound through the parking lot on foot.

“The suspect is a white male 5’9 to 5’10 scruffy beard, wearing a light color shirt and blue jeans. He was also wearing a Camo baseball hat with orange writing or design on it and sunglasses.”

The Mansfield Division of Police Major Crimes Unit Detectives along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation is asking for any information regarding the Bank Robbery. Detective Frank Parrella is seeking additional information on the Robbery. According to Richland County Sheriff Department Major Joe Masi, MPD requested the sheriff department’s assistance. A deputy responded with “Rahko,” a K9. 

Richland Bank officials closed the office for the rest of the day.
