MANSFIELD — Tuesday’s luncheon at Gorman-Rupp celebrated Sherman Elementary’s kindergarten through third grade students of the month.

Featured were four cardboard food stands (provided by CorPad) offering pizza, juice, chips and ice cream displaying the price for each. Being the healthier choice, the bananas were provided at no charge.

Each table place setting had $5 in Junior Achievement play money for the children to purchase their lunch. Students hoping for an additional serving could earn extra money by keeping their table tidy and disposing of their trash.

The staff of helpers included Angela Eyerly, Brian Judd, Jeremiah Gibson, Laurie Leedy, Lisa Huffman, Nicole Kilgore, Robert Barley, Renee Nastasi, Kristen Eikleberry, Trent Miller and Cindy Roseberry.

“We wanted to do something fun for the last luncheon of the year, but also incorporate an educational value,” said Roseberry, who coordinates the tutor/support program between Sherman Elementary and Gorman-Rupp. “It was a great success.”

The luncheon was staffed by many employees, most of whom donate a lunch hour on Tuesdays each week to tutor a Sherman student one-on-one.

“It takes a great team and a generous company behind you to pull this type of support off,” Roseberry said.
