GALION — Dating for nearly two years, Tigre Bradley knew he had to do something memorable during his proposal to Maggie Smith.

“It was love at first sight,” Bradley, an Ashland native, said.

The two met at a park while Maggie was visiting her father. A few years later, Bradley sent Smith a Facebook message and the two lovebirds picked up from there.

Bradley said he does his best thinking while at work, and it was at work where he developed his proposal plan.

“I knew I wanted to propose to her, but I wasn’t sure how to do it. I wanted to make it very special,” he said.

Bradley called a few businesses in Galion to get help. Signs were seen on Tuesday, May 10, at Wendy’s, Taco Bell and Family Video.

Bradley dropped Smith off at a doctor’s appointment — the couple are expecting a child. During the visit, Bradley drove around to make sure the signs were up.

Bradley went back to pick up Maggie.

“I told her I wanted to drive around and look at the scenery,” Bradley said of the commencement of operation marriage.

Bradley said things started off slowly — Smith did not see the signs during the first take, so Bradley had to drive around a second time.

“She said, ‘I think I see my name at Taco Bell drive around again.’ Then her face lit up,” Bradley said, with a smile.

After they passing the first sign, the two drove past Pizza Hut and McDonalds. After a typo on one of the business’s signs, Bradley said his fiance was confused.

“She asked ‘Tigre, are you trying to ask me something?” Bradley said.

Bradley replied, “No, but Marquee has a pretty good idea, but if I was what would you say?”

The couple and Maggie’s two girls, continued driving to Applebee’s, where a musician was playing. Bradley took advantage of the situation, explaining his plans to the musician.

After everyone was done eating the musician came over to an unsuspecting Smith and a nervous Bradley.

“The guy said to Maggie, ‘this gentleman has a question to ask you.’ I got down on my knee to ask,” Bradley said. “Maggie said yes.”
