Sandra Lee Smith, 79, of Shelby died Monday May 9, 2016 at the Hospice House in Ashland.
Born March 3, 1937 in Shiloh to Leroy & Margie (Urie) Frakes, Sandra was a Shelby resident the majority of her life. A homemaker, she was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the “55” Club.
Sandra enjoyed decorating her home inside as well as outside with her love for plants and gardening. She was a very talented painter and cake decorator.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin (Silvia) Smith, of Shelby and Brian (Christine) Smith, of Dayton; one daughter, Stephanie (Doug) Heestand, of Lexington; six grandchildren, Heather (Josh) Swartz, Dustin Heestand, Ashley Heestand, Aidan Smith and twins, Kaitlin and Nicholas Smith; two great grandsons, Kalan Allen and Lincoln Swartz, three step-great-grandchildren, Logan, Kloe and Autumn Swartz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard R. Smith on Feb. 3, 2012; grandson, Seth Smith and her grandparents.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday May 13, 2016 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby with Pastor Russel Yoak officiating. Interment will be held in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.
