ONTARIO — The Richland County Habitat ReStore is in need of donated items to stock up their inventory.
They will be hosting “ReStock the ReStore” donation drive at their location, 2131 Park Ave. W, Ste. 500 – Rear of Hawkin’s Corner). The event will feature food, games, and special sales. Donations may be dropped off at the ReStore between 9 am and 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturdays. Pickups for large items are available by appointment.
The goal of the donation drive is to increase awareness while helping build the ReStore’s inventory. The ReStore accepts donations of new and gently used household items and building supplies, such as some furniture, appliances, cabinetry, tools, lighting, office furniture and much more.
The ReStore does not accept clothing or toys. All donations may be tax-deductible.
“As Winter comes to an end, many people are cleaning out closets, basements and attics or remodeling and redecorating,” said executive director Veronna Drane. “We want to encourage everyone to consider the benefits of donating to Habitat’s ReStore instead of dumping the items or holding a garage sale.
“The ReStore is not only a green alternative to disposing of unwanted items, but it’s also a great way to support Habitat for Humanity’s work in Richland and Crawford Counties providing homeownership opportunities and to families and individuals through 0-percent interest home mortgages.”
Habitat staff and volunteers will be on site to accept donations. If donors have large items they cannot bring in themselves they can schedule a pickup by calling 419-524-8416.
A Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a retail operation that supports the services provided by the organization. The income generated from the ReStore goes to support the local Habitat for Humanity.
The ReStore promotes the reuse of overstocked, discontinued, new and slightly used building materials, cabinets, furniture and various items donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors, deconstruction efforts and individuals.
These donated items are sold to the public at discount prices or used in construction of Habitat projects while providing an environmentally responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of landfills.
