MANSFIELD — The calendar may say April but the weather may look more like December over the next 24 hours in Richland County and the rest of Northern Ohio.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Richland County and Ashland County in effect from 7 p.m. Friday through 10 a.m. Saturday. Accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected, with some higher amounts at higher elevations. Snowfall rates of up to an inch per hour are possible.
Temperatures will be in the 20s, with wind gusts up to 30 mph and wind chills dipping into the teens.
According to the advisory, rain will transition to snow around sunset Friday and continue through Saturday morning, with the heaviest snowfall likely taking place during the early morning hours of Saturday.
The snow will make driving conditions difficult. If you must be on the roads, authorities suggest using caution and allowing extra time for travel.
