Donald P. Miller, 80, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the Hospice House of Ashland.
He was born to Dorsey W. and Leta M. Miller on Aug. 31, 1935.
Donald graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1954. He then served in the U.S. Marines from 1953 to 1956. Donald worked at Faultess (Abbott Lab) and retired from Rubbermaid. He was a lifetime member of Amvets and an American Legion member. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, golfing, singing, and listening to music.
Donald is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Shonkwiler) Miller; his children, David (Mary Jo) Miller; Melanie (Rick) Edwards, Mark “Butch” (Natalie) Miller, all of Baltimore, Maryland, Vicky (Jim) Thewlis, of Statesville, North Carolina, Rick (Patti) Boyd, of Caledonia, Ohio, and Kimberly (Robert) Lee, of Hudson, Florida; grandchildren, Bob (Julie) Lee, Shawn Thewlis, Damian (Vicky) Boyd, Shannon (Eric) Carico, Jason (Kelly) Butcher, Candy Boyd, Crystal Miller, Mark (Amy) Deickman, Dustin (Brandel) Boyd, Bonnie Miller, Cora (Daniel) Spayde, Amy (Carl) Guiher, Lilly Ellis, Jasmine Miller, Jonah Miller, and Elijah Miller; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, William (Sally) Shonkwiler; and one sister-in-law, Pauline Shonkwiler.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Doris Owens, and his brother, William (Joe) Miller.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March, 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Gary Wilson, will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 1 p.m. also at the Ontario Home. An additional hour of visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on the day of the service. Burial will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
