Frances “Fran” P. Arvay Glodowski, 82, of Mansfield passed away March 14, 2016 at Ohio Health Mansfield.

Fran was born Aug. 14, 1933 in Natrona Heights, PA to George and Mary Andrejcik Arvay. She graduated from Har-Brack High School, New Kensington, PA Business School, and came to Mansfield in 1960. Fran spent many years volunteering at St. Peter’s School cafeteria and for the church in many capacities. She was well known for her delicious baked goods and for being the one who started making cabbage rolls for the bake sale. Fran was a member of the Catholic Woman’s Club. She was very proud of her Slovak heritage and loved her family doing all she could to help them.

Survivors include her children Elaine Leach (Kel Utendorf) of Dublin, OH, Karen (Gary) Culbertson of Pickerington, OH, David Glodowski (Sherri Parrish) of Mansfield, OH; grandchildren Ryan, Andrew and Sarah Leach, Kristen and Jacob Culbertson; brother Tony (Malvene) Arvay of Lower Burrell, PA; sisters-in-law Henrietta (Adam) Stevenson of Dublin, OH, Marie Arvay of Youngstown, OH, Julia Glodowski of Weirton, WV; brother-in-law Joe Famurak of New Kensington, PA; many nieces, nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ted Glodowski; sisters Mary Wesoloski, Ann Mazur, Marge Famurak, Helen Napierkowski, Bertha Modzelewski, Betty Arvay; brothers Steve, John, Andy and Joe Arvay.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Thursday from 2-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jeremy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter’s Catholic Church Capital Campaign.
