Bonna J. Laughbaum, 86, of Galion, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Bucyrus Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Bonna was born in Shelby on Nov. 26, 1929 to the late Walter and Gertrude (Foraker) Mathias. She married Ramon L. Laughbaum and he survives.

She was a Shelby High School graduate, Class of 1947. She retired from the Galion Public Library, and was a member of the Friends of the Library. Bonna was a member of the Iberia United Methodist Church, Iberia. Her pastimes included traveling, reading, keeping her home and making delicious home cooked meals. Ramon and Bonna enjoyed having dinner at Taylor’s.

Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Ramon, her children Michael (Faye) Fried, of Shelby, Brenda (Larry) Hughes, of Galion, Beth Stidham, of Shelby, and Monte (Jennifer) Fried, of Galion; her stepchildren Ramon (Susan) Laughbaum Jr., of Evansville, Indiana, Randall (Jane) Laughbaum, of Willard, Madelyn Laughbaum, of Tiro, and Cathy Barr, of Apollo Beach, Florida; her five grandchildren Mickey Fried, Heather (Scott) Brooks, Amanda (Nate) Ratcliff, Denim (Juanita) Robinette and Blair Whitaker; her step-grandchildren Daryl Laughbaum, Neil (Alicia) Laughbaum, Amy (Steve) Pope and Todd (Amy) Pollock, numerous great-grandchildren; her two sisters Eileen Studer, of Shelby and Janice (Sam) Stamen, of Loudonville, her brother Robert Mathias, of Mansfield, numerous nieces and nephews and her Newfoundland Landseer dog Zoe.

She was preceded in death by her grandson Clinton Whitaker and her brother William Mathias.

Friends may call Wednesday, March 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion.
