MANSFIELD — A record 53 entries from Mansfield Senior High School competed Saturday in state-level judging at the 46th annual Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition.

The students’ work advanced after regional judging last weekend at Ontario High School.

“I am very proud of the work of our students,” said art teacher Mindy Duncan. “Their entries represent every medium – painting, printmaking, drawing, ceramics and mixed medium.”

Approximately 2,500 pieces were selected for state judging from 11,500 regional entries at 15 sites around the state. Only 300 will be selected for the actual state exhibition which will open at the end of May at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower.

Senior High has had 17 state winners over the last two years.

Regional winning pieces that do not advance at the state level will be exhibited at the Mansfield Art Center from March 20 to April 17.

Senior High students whose work will compete at the state level on Saturday include: Makenzi Cline, Parker Marvin, McKynzi Daniels, Ni-shan Rawls, Shirley Owens, Thea Crowley, Yasminah Rawls, Ashtynn Grose, Casey Bonner, Claudia French, Deandre Williams, Faith Owens, Glen Lamb, Isaiah Windham, Jacquille Fletcher, Julian Windham, Kiile Sayre, Lorasa Harris and Maggie Ousley.

Students who have multiple entries are Sarah Voelp, two; Sidney Caudill, three; Abou Diomande, three; Alexia Kemerling, four; Ameer Culliver, three; Brianna Crouse, two; Coleman Proffitt, two; Dallas Smith, two; Jacob Miller, two; Jenerio Minard, four; Kayla Thomas, two, and Kyle Weese, two.
