Clifford E. McGinty, 94, of Mansfield passed away March 10, 2016 at home with his family by his side.
Clifford was born August 9, 1921 in Mansfield to Robert and Evelyn Soules McGinty. While working at Empire Steel he was drafted and joined the United States Army where he worked as a railroad brakeman during World War II. After coming back he worked at Gorman Rupp for 34 years performing multiple jobs. Clifford was a member of the VFW Post 9943 in Mansfield.
Survivors include his sons Doug McGinty and Dave (Vanessa) McGinty all of Mansfield; grandchildren Shawn and Jason McGinty; great-grandchildren Kylie, Briana and Jayden McGinty; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary; sisters Anna Symsick, Helen Cochran; brothers Robert, Richard, Bert, William, and Ernie McGinty.
Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. A funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery with military honors being provided by Richland County Joint Veteran’s Council.
