MANSFIELD, OHIO. The Board of Directors of the Renaissance Performing Arts Association has announced its search for a new Music Director for the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

Maestro Thomas Hong will remain with the orchestra through its 2015-2016 season. During Maestro Hong’s four-year tenure, the Mansfield Symphony reached a new level of musicianship in performances that delighted audiences, and significantly expanded its presence in the community.

Over the coming year, the symphony’s Music Director search committee will be working from a short list of excellent candidates. The committee will accept applications through April 19, with initial screening and interviewing completed in May. Top candidates will be selected to guest conduct the orchestra’s three classical concerts during the 2016-2017 season, and the new Music Director will be appointed for the start of the 2017-2018 season.

“The orchestra is an integral part of Mansfield and a significant point of pride for the Renaissance,” commented Renaissance President/CEO Michael Miller. “Although the search process seems long, it’s very important that we carefully vet each candidate. Maestro Hong has made significant strides with the orchestra over his four years here, and we want to be sure that we are choosing the right Music Director to continue the symphony’s upward trajectory.”
