MANSFIELD — Around 2,000 Mansfield FirstEnergy, a subsidiary of OhioEdison, customers experienced power outages Monday evening starting around 4:30 p.m.
FirstEnergy Spokesperson Jennifer Young said field representatives were at the Home Road and Marion Avenue sub station at 5 p.m. to repair failed fuses.
“Initially there were about 2,000 customers affected. They’ve worked to get a partial restoration and now about 1,100 customers are still affected,” Young said at 5:15 p.m.
She said the power outage is expected to last until approximately 7 p.m. She did not know the streets affected, but below is a map found on FirstEnergy’s website of the affected areas in Mansfield.
Around 5 p.m. a wreck was reported to have happened at the Marion and Trimble intersection. Bystanders confirmed the crash was due to the power outage, as the stop light was ineffective. None were injured, according to bystanders.
