ASHLAND, Ohio – Three Ashland University organizations are co-sponsoring a Black History Month event that will feature Dr. Chris Burkett facilitating a discussion on the topic, “A Conversation on Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.”

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Monday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. on the eighth floor of the Ashland University Library. The event is co-sponsored by Brothers in Action, Student Senate and Black Student Alliance on the AU campus.

Burkett, associate professor of political science, joined Ashland University in 2005. He teaches American political thought and institutions courses, and his fields of expertise include the American founding, American foreign policy and political philosophy.

Burkett serves as faculty adviser to Student Senate and was named Outstanding Male Faculty Member of the Year in 2008. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ashland University and both his M.A. and Ph.D. in politics from the University of Dallas.
