Pam A. Nelson, 65, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born Aug. 3, 1950, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to Arnold Calvin Satterfield and Thelma (Nattress) Satterfield, and lived most of her life in Mansfield.

Pam had a servant’s heart and truly enjoyed helping others, especially working with people with special needs. She was formerly employed as a nurse and retired from Mickey’s Creative Options. She organized CPR classes and would transport people to their medical and dental appointments.

Pam was a member of Ridgeway First Church of God and was the head of Operation Christmas Child. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, attending auctions, and boating with family and friends.

Pam was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In August, she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage to the love of her life, Mike Nelson. She was the glue that held her family together and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Byron “Mike” Nelson Sr.; six children, Buffy (Tim) Richardson, Shannon Maurer, Michael Nelson Jr., Jason (Kris) Nelson, Jon Nelson and Sayja Nelson; 14 grandchildren, Lynsy, Allen, Corey, Thomas, Joshua, Sarah, Chaise, Lilly, Chloe, Kane, Melaina, Breanna, Logan and Aiden; one great-grandchild, Hunter with another on the way; mother, Thelma Satterfield; a special niece, Tracy Smith; several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins; and her work and church families. She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Satterfield; a sister, Linda Crabtree; and a niece, Diane Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Ridgeway First Church of God, 1380 Ohio 430, Mansfield. The funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the church with additional visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor John Dodds will conduct the service.
