Helen Black

Helen J. Black, 89, of Galion passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Galion Pointe.

Born Feb. 15, 1926 in Morrow County, she was the daughter of Melvin G. and Cynthia E. (Virtue) Bachelder. She married Hugh A. Black on Jan.  10. 1946 and they enjoyed 30 years together until his passing on Sept. 6, 1976.

She was a member of the former Galion Church of Christ now known as Community Christian Church. Helen worked at the former North Electric Company in Galion. She was a member of the Galion Golden Age Center and enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by children Cynthia Jennings of Katy, Texas, Connie (Ed) Tennis of Galion and Larry D. (Doris) Black of Cedar Grove, Tennessee; five grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and sister Margaret Vaughn of Mansfield.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by daughter Linda Lou Black; grandsons Mark Allen Wise and Todd Jennings; brother Ralph William Bachelder; sisters Ruth Ellen Dudley, Melba Phillips, Phyllis Ore, Mary Ardella Bachelder and Betty Lou Bachelder and son-in-law Robert Jennings..

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 with Pastor Brandon Quail officiating. Burial will follow at Bryn Zion Cemetery in Mt. Gilead.
