MANSFIELD, Ohio — The Board of Health for Richland Public Health voted in its Monday meeting to decrease food service and food establishment fees by 12 percent for 2016.

“Every year we conduct a cost analysis of our Food Protection Program,” said Joe Harrod, Environmental Health Director for Richland Public Health. “We adjust the food license fees annually if the cost analysis shows that an increase or decrease is needed.

“After careful review of the cost analysis, license fees, and consulting with the Board of Health, we made the decision to decrease these food license fees for 2016.”

It was the sentiment of the Board of Health that reducing the fees currently assessed for food protection would still cover the cost of the program without the need for using local public health levy funds.

The approved food service license fees for Commercial, Non-Commercial, Mobiles, Vending Machines, and Temporary Food Operations is on the Richland Public Health website (richlandhealth.org) under the “For Business” menu (link: http://www.richlandhealth.org/for-business-/food-service-license-fees-2016).
