ONTARIO, Ohio — An urgent care facility is moving into the former White Castle building, located at 375 N. Lexington-Springmill Road.

During a special meeting Tuesday morning, the Ontario City Planning Commission approved a final site plan for a change of use from fast food/retail to a medical use in a “B” Business District.

“As far as code is concerned, a medical use is permitted in a business district,” City Zoning Inspector Dan Herrold said.

The current property owner is Excel Health Solutions, LLC, of Dublin, Ohio.

Steve Bridgeford with J&F Construction, the general contractor for Excel Health Solutions, believes the facility will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Renovations are already underway.

Mayor Randy Hutchinson wasn’t certain when the facility will be open, but said, “I think their goal is to get it up and running as soon as possible.”

According to city records, the building has sat vacant since 2013.

“Everything  looks good for current code on this pre-existing building and parking,” Herrold said.

Hutchinson is excited to see this new facility in the city. “I think it’s great for the citizens,” he said. “It gives them options.”

Avita project

The planning commission also approved a final site plan for the addition of an ambulance canopy and a bulk oxygen storage, generator, and an above ground fuel storage tank enclosure at the Avita Health System facility, located at 715 Richland Mall.

The mayor said this project is the continuation of the prior site plans. He estimated it will take at least a year to complete.
