Vera Louise Imhoff, 91, of Galion passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.
She was born Feb. 14, 1924 in West Frankfort, Illinois, and was the daughter of Ernest B. and Lennie (Smith) Chance.
Vera was educated in Chicago and attended Gregg Business College specializing in law. She worked in various law firms in Chicago. After her marriage, she worked for Howard F. Burns Sr., Partner of Baker, Hostetler & Patterson in Cleveland.
On July 19, 1952, she married John Clawson Imhoff, whom she met on a blind date while he was in graduate school at the University of Chicago. They enjoyed nearly 54 years of marriage until his passing on March 26, 2006.
While Vera lived in Galion, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in many church activities. She was also a member of Jr. Women’s Club, Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout leader PTA’s and an avid golfer in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Montclair, New Jersey, Stonington, Connecticut, and Galion.
Vera was a member of Galion Community Hospital Auxiliary, Galion Country Club, Neighborhood Garden Club and the former Sirosis Club.
She is survived by sons Jeffrey C. (Laura) Imhoff, of Walden, New York, and Judson C. (Satsuki) Imhoff, of Aiea, Hawaii; daughter Jane C. Imhoff Michelini, of Milford, New Jersey; grandchildren Joli Imhoff Flores, Myles and Chase Imhoff, Spencer and Nicolas Michelini, and great-granddaughter Ivy Marie Imhoff, and sister-in-law Jewell Parton Chance, of Joliet, Illinois.
Vera was preceded in death by her sisters, Imogene Watson, Gwendolyn Lucik and her brother, Ernest B. Chance II.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Avita Health Foundation in care of the funeral home.
