Laura Lynn Bixler Tinkey, 54, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, after a brief illness. Laura was born Nov. 7, 1961, to the late Charles Bixler and Shirley Bixler in Mansfield, Ohio.
She grew up in Mansfield and graduated from Madison High School in 1980. She then worked as a licensed chair-side dental assistant at the office of Dr. Randall Hester, D.D.S. Laura loved water, whether it was a trip to the ocean, swimming in her pool, or fishing on Lake Erie. She liked gardening, canning her own vegetables, cooking, traveling, and watching football and NASCAR. She was a member of Amvets Post #26 and F.O.E. Aerie # 336.
She is survived by the love of her life, husband, Greg Tinkey, with whom she recently celebrated their 11th anniversary; mother, Shirley Bixler of Mansfield; sisters, Lynda (Paul) Brooks and Trudi Wilson; father-in-law, Max Tinkey; step son, Max (Samantha) Tinkey; grandchildren, Mya, Noah and Auggie; sister-in-law, Valorie (Steve) Krause; brother-in-law, David (Marilyn) Tinkey; nephews, Zak Krause, William and Jon Brooks and Andrew Hasenzahl; nieces, Caryle (Sean) Watson and Brianna (Kenny) Thompson; great-nephews, Hoyt Watson, Quinton, Hayden and Kody Oberschlake; great-nieces, Sierra and Emma Oberschlake; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Bixler; brother, Timothy Thompson; mother-in-law, Ruth Ann Tinkey; and grandparents.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at 4 p.m. at Eagles Aerie # 336, 129 N. Main St., Mansfield. Celebrant Mark Dettmer will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Stephanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, 660 Ackerman Rd., 6th Floor, PO Box 183112, Columbus, Ohio, 43218-3112.
