BUTLER, Ohio – After foreclosure earlier this year, Clear Fork Ski Resort is reopening with a few changes – the biggest of which perhaps are new ownership and a tweak in the name.

“We deliberately kept the ‘Clear Fork Resort’ part of the name to carry the connection to the valley, to evoke fond memories of traditions that generations of patrons hold dear and to maintain continuity and familiarity, said Kellen Jones, part of the ownership entity in a Nov. 25 release.

“We swapped ‘ski’ with ‘adventure’ because of the ambitious plan we have for the property in years to come.”

Calls seeking comment were not immediately returned.

With the changes come plans for weekend day and night tubing, novelty tubing attractions, and group rentals on tents and indoor event space at the base of the tubing runs.

Tubing operations are planned to start the first possible Saturday in December, depending on the weather. The tubing schedule will have sessions in two-hour blocks from 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

General admission is $22 with discounts available. Group rates for private tubing and rental areas vary by time and amenities, and are available during and outside of regular tubing hours.

“The Birdhouse,” which is a small cottage on the site, has been renovated and is available for nightly rentals. Ownership intends to make it the top option for onsite accommodations.

Along with the improvements, the resort will offer lodge rentals; new restaurant, bar, and banquet options; venues and activities; and year-round attractions that will be announced as they are introduced.

Other plans include adding a campground and RV park next spring, as well as perhaps more permanent adventure cabins.

According to the news release, Clear Fork Adventure Resort has “deliberate” plans for several attractions and new uses for the lodge and property. Confidentiality will be maintained until each addition comes online.

The former resort, which originally opened in 1964, was foreclosed on by Cache Private Capital Diversified Fund LLC, of Utah, which now owns the property.

The new resort, however, is hiring. Call 419-883-2000 to inquire.

Clear Fork Adventure Resort is a “sprawling recreational property,” located at 341 Resort Drive in Butler. Visit clearfork-resort.com, “Like” its Facebook page, or call the aforementioned number for more information.
