Ronald D. Manchester Sr., 78, of rural Loudonville, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, November 15, 2015 at his home. He was born April 27, 1937 in Loudonville and was the son of the late Glenn Edward and Velma Mae (Young) Manchester. Mr. Manchester was a life resident of the Loudonville area, a 1955 graduate of Loudonville High School, and a US Army veteran serving as a paratrooper in the Airborne Division. He was a 39-year employee of The Flxible Company, working as a tool and die inspector before retiring in 1996. Mr. Manchester enjoyed the outdoors, but his true love was his family, his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Loudonville.
He is survived by his wife, Helen J. (Sellers) Manchester, whom he married Dec. 31, 1966; two sons: Ron Manchester Jr. and Dave (Mindi) Manchester, all of Loudonville; his daughter, Ronda Manchester of Loudonville; and six grandchildren: Tyler, Ben, Laila, Amber, Zachary, and Kate Manchester. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Doris Buzzard Smith, and his brother, Wilbur Manchester.
Private family services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 with Pastor John Temple officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the American Legion and VFW will be held in Loudonville Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home.
