Galion resident Marcus Williams, 35, faces 80 felony charges.

BUCYRUS, Ohio — Judge Sean E. Leuthold appointed Mansfield attorney Rolf Whitney to a child porn case involving 80 felonious counts against Galion resident Marcus Williams on Monday.

Williams, 35, was indicted by the Crawford County Grand Jury earlier this month.

According to Crawford County Common Pleas Court Civil and Criminal Case Manager Donna Fox, Williams faces 56 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material and 24 counts of pandering sexually oriented materials involving a minor.

Bond was set at $2.5 million.

Leuthold said an additional hearing will be scheduled for the near future.

Prosecutor Matthew Crall said Monday no federal charges have been filed. He said Williams was part of an ongoing investigation that involved consultation by the FBI, but that the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Columbus took lead the case.

Williams was arrested in Galion after he corresponded with an undercover agent disguised as a 14-year-old girl online. But Crall could neither confirm nor deny if local juveniles were victims in the case.

“I can’t say for sure if there weren’t, but I also can’t say there were (local juveniles involved),” said Crall.

Williams also has an open case that was filed in September. He faces a criminal charge of importuning dissemination matter harmful to a juvenile and possessing criminal tools.

He will face a criminal jury trial in the Crawford County Courthouse on Jan. 14 and 15, 2016.
