Joan Mardell Keiser Hale, 81, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at her home.

She was born July 1, 1934, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Peter Keiser and Mildred (Carver) Keiser.

Joan attended Mansfield Senior High School and on February 14, 1952, married Thurman Hale. She was an amazing cook and housewife, and enjoyed gardening in her spare time. They lived in Alabama for 26 years and later resided at October Hill in Loudonville.

Joan was a very talented artist and enjoyed painting. She was a past member of the Eagle’s and Moose. Joan enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, and playing Bingo.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thurman Hale; two children, Nila (David) Jordan and Thurman (Nancy) Hale, Jr.; five grandchildren, Alicia (Keith) Weaver, Ashley (Chris) Swain, Rachel (Robert) Kilts, Janelle Thompson and Marian Hale; nine great-grandchildren; a brother Kaye Jay Keiser; a sister, Susan Lynne Keiser (Steven) James.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Daryl Keiser.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Slider officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
