SHELBY, Ohio — John C. Moore, age 81, of Shelby, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 at Hospice House of North Central Ohio in Ashland.
John was born Sept. 25, 1934 in Radnor, West Virginia the son of the late William Clinton and Carrie Bell (Porter) Moore. John spent his career at Empire-Detroit Steel where he was an electrician and motor room operator. He retired on Jan. 31, 1992 after 37 years. John was a member of Taylortown Community Church where he attended regularly. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, listening to bluegrass music, playing the guitar, and going to auctions.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice (Blevins) Moore, whom he wed on April 23, 1955. Also surviving are their five children: Karen (James) Channing of Plymouth, Sharon (Jerry) Tackett of Fort Mill, SC, Pam Dick (Bill Barker) of Bucyrus, Douglas (Kathy) Moore of Shelby, and John (Crystal) Moore of Crestline; 11 wonderful grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters: Marcella Early and Rhoda (Randall) Stover; two sisters in law: Jewell Moore and Roberta Moore; a special nephew: Henry Lee Marcum; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers: Charlie Moore and Marshall Moore; two sisters: Ruby Warren and Brookie Warren; mother and father in law: Ivory and Shirley Blevins; several brothers in law, sisters in law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main St., Shelby. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Taylortown Community Church, 2656 Taylortown Rd., Shelby, with John’s pastor, Rev. O. Douglas Tackett, officiating. Burial will follow in Springmill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Taylortown Community Church or Hospice House of North Central Ohio.
