GALION, Ohio — Liberty Mill in Galion officially changed hands last week. Thursday Liberty Mill formally annouced their new name: Liberty Farm Home and Garden.

Ben Sharrock is taking over the business from his father, Tim Sharrock. Tim Sharrock ran the business for 31 years.

Ben Sharrock who is taking over said that it was the right time for passing the business from father to son because his father is nearing retirement. He also said that milling has been in his family for generations and continuing that family tradition is exciting for him.

Ben Sharrock has been managing the faculty in Galion for some time now and this was just the next step in the process of taking over. His goals for the business are to grow, expand, and add new products. Items they currently carry are pet and animal feeds and supplies, softener salts, lawn and garden products, farm supplies, home and garden supplies, bird feeders, fire pits, concrete, mortar, pond care supplies, fertilizer, sand, mulch, tile, and ice melt products.

In addition to the store in Galion there is a retail store in Shelby that has been open for over a year, as well as a grain elevator that has been in operation for 12 years.

Ben Sharrock’s wife Bethany and son Nathan attending the ribbon cutting, and city officials and Joe Kleinknecht from the Chamber of Commerce were also there.
