SHELBY, Ohio – The image of The Shelby Foundation might have changed, but not its mission. The foundation is in the Shelby community to financially support area nonprofit organizations with their programs, facilities and services.
On Sept. 19, 250 people gathered at the Ralph Phillips Conference Center to support The Shelby Foundation’s annual fundraiser by raising $80,000.
Proceeds from the event will be reinvested into the community through the foundation’s grant-making process. During the event, guests were treated to dinner catered by The Vault, a video capturing the spirit of Shelby, and the unveiling of the foundation’s new logo.
The Shelby Foundation collaborated with local business, Lantz Star Graphics, to develop a new logo that is reminiscent of Shelby’s history but is also fresh, modern and easy to identify. The light bulb has significant meaning to Shelby. The Centennial Light was manufactured by the Shelby Electric Company in 1901 and is the longest lasting light bulb, which is still burning today in a fire station in California.
A modern twist on the foundation’s previous logo, the light bulb represents light and brightness, which ties in perfectly with the new tagline, “For a Brighter Tomorrow.”
Director Carrie Kemerer stated, “It was moving to see the community support the annual fundraiser. The Shelby community embraces the notion of helping a neighbor in need and that’s the purpose of the foundation. The foundation was formed for the purpose to help area organizations thrive which makes everyone and everything better. It was amazing to see community members take the foundation’s tag line to heart and work together – For a Brighter Tomorrow.”
