GALION, Ohio – Galion Oktoberfest will celebrate 40 years Sept. 24-25 in historic Uptowne Galion with music, food, rides and games.
The entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 on the Main Stage with the John Kennedy Orchestra. This 16-piece big band is one of the favorites in the area and has been entertaining for over 50 years. The Semer Brothers will be kicking off the festival on Stage 2 at 6:30 p.m. With their harmonies reminiscent of The Eagles.
On Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., the Main Stage will shift gears to an evening of country western music featuring Lorrie Brown and Rough Country followed by Jessica Hannan, Nashville recording star. Hannan performs classic country as well as original songs. On Stage 2 at 6 p.m. Cold River rising performs rock followed by Calling Cain at 7:30 p.m. Perfectly Damaged finishes up the evening at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 26 the music continues with Standard Time at 1 p.m. Followed by the John Vermullen Octet featuring Brian Smith singing in the style of Frank Sinatra. At 5 p.m. Big band sound returns with the Eric Gimbel Orchestra, joining the finest musicians in America including Ed Morrison of California. At 8 p.m. Las Vegas singer Ann Flamingo opens for the son of Elvis, Elvis Aaron Presley Jr. If you are an Elvis fan, you don’t want to miss this show.
Also Saturday,Stage 2 opens at 5 p.m. with Picasso’s Dream, followed at 6:30 p.m. With the high energy rock and roll sounds of Electric Circus. At 9 p.m. The evening closes with Trust.
The Christian Gospel stage will be located in the center of Galion at the Gazebo featuring music throughout the three day festival. The Brush and Pallet Art Club will again be hosting an art show, Art in the Alley activities and art sale during the festival.
The best food vendors in the state include Smokin’ Joe’s Ribs, Louisiana Grill’s Bourbon Chicken, Marjon’s Famous Shredded Chicken Sandwiches, Joe Nagy’s Buffalo and Elk Burgers, and the usual favorites brats, sausage, funnel cakes, gyros, crepes, fried cheese sticks, fried oreos, curly fries, lemonade and more.
