MANSFIELD, Ohio – Spirit Ohio Sports Academy (SOSA), the area’s largest and longest running gymnastics program, is celebrating the 17th annual National Gymnastics Day Saturday, Sept. 19.
On Tuesday, Sept. 15, Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker signed the city’s Proclamation of National Gymnastics Day and Safety Service Director Cope presented the document to gym owner Steve Fuller.
National Gymnastics Day was pioneered by USA Gymnastics and they are proud to partner with Member Clubs like Spirit Ohio and across the country to highlight the impact of fitness through gymnastics for kids.
“SOSA’s 20,000 square foot gymnastics and cheerleading facility is a huge asset to our community by providing year round fitness opportunities through both recreational and team gymnastics for hundreds of area youth,” said Downtown Mansfield, Inc CEO Jennifer Kime.

In addition, the gym offers both a free cheerleading program and a free dance program for children with special abilities that serves not only as a positive recreational sport, but also as a tool to build self-esteem.
SOSA began in 2002 as a small group of young cheerleaders in the Discovery School gym. SOSA has grown each year and has served thousands of children and families from Richland and surrounding counties.
The mission of SOSA is to enable people of all ages to benefit from team and individual activities in a safe and structured environment. Through active participation, SOSA programs build self-esteem, boost confidence and teach skills that people can use in everyday life.
