Richland Academy is excited to introduce its newest instructor, Darell Sanson.
Sanson teaches guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and bass. He has over 35 years of teaching experience with students ranging from age 5 to 75. Sanson has been around music all his life, beginning at the early age of 7 when he learned to play mandolin.
He has enjoyed a long and varied music career. Some of his most notable performances include touring with the County Gentlemen, filling in for Jimmy Gaudreau while he was in the Army Reserves. Sanson got the attention of Jimmy Martin and was asked to come and play mandolin and sing tenor for the Sunny Mountain Boys. While performing with Jimmy Martin, he was given the opportunity to play several times at the Grand Ole Opry. Last but not least, he toured with the Bluegrass Alliance with Lonnie Pierce, Garland Shuping, Danny Wiley and Marty Townsend. Sanson has also led several different groups of his own: The New Beginning, Darell Sanson and String Sensations and currently Darell Sanson & Safire Sun.
Richland Academy will welcome Sanson on Friday, Oct. 2 with a special event titled “Fiddle & Fun.” The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a special meet and greet. Those attending are invited to bring and instrument and play a few bars with Sanson himself. Following the meet and greet, you will want to stick around for a special performance by Darell Sanson & Safire Sun.
